Nikkor F Cameras
When Nippon Kogaku went to market the Nikon F in Germany, than ran into opposition to the name
"Nikon". The photographic giant Zeiss Ikon felt that "Nikon" sounded to close to "Ikon", and felt it would
be a trademark infringement. Nippon Kogaku marketed the Nikon F under the name "Nikkor F" in
Germany only. Bodies were marked on the nameplate above the lens, and on later versions without
the N.K.K. logo on the top plate as well. Meter finders were marked on the front.
Even though they were marketed for a long time in such a manner, from the earlier versions of the
Photomic era, until the FTn, they did not sell well, and are uncommon on the market today. They were
available in chrome and black
